Tiivistelmä
This thesis demonstrates how Bluetooth mesh technology can be used to design, develop, and deploy flexible and easily scalable modern lighting systems. The goal was to evaluate the suitability and ease of using Bluetooth mesh technology to implement such lighting systems.
Three prototype models of lighting systems were designed and implemented using Nordic Semiconductor's products and platforms: basic mesh lighting system, scaled mesh lighting system and scaled mesh lighting system with digital grid switches.
The implementation succeeded in demonstrating that Bluetooth mesh technology can be leveraged to design and deploy lighting systems that can be easily managed, remotely accessed, and quickly re-arranged. Nordic Semiconductor’s products and platforms were found to be adequate for rapid prototyping of Bluetooth mesh lighting applications. The thesis provides proof of concept for implementing Bluetooth mesh-based resilient and smart lighting systems in large residential and industrial buildings.
