With the constant evolution of technology, working and learning from home has become something ordinary over the past few years. The coronavirus pandemic has provided a strong impetus for the introduction of global virtual teams (GVTs) in companies and educational institutions. Now companies are looking for and hiring employees who can work both in the office and online.
The main aims of the study were to explore the experiences of the students who participated in GVTs and to propose the use of scriptwriting as a process for discussing findings.
In order to achieve the objectives, the study was based on an interpretative qualitative approach. Data was collected through an open-ended questionnaire of GVTs participants and a literature review.
As a result, a traditional thematic data analysis process and a non-traditional scriptwriting process were applied to gain a deeper and more detailed understanding of the data. The main differences between GVTs and collocated teams were also identified, the preferred leadership style in global virtual teams was defined, and the main causes of conflict in these teams were found. Recommendations for future research in the area of GVTs and the process of scriptwriting in researches were provided in the conclusion.
