Sauna from Finland is the commissioner of this research. They collaborate with many stakeholders and spread information about the Finnish sauna culture. Sauna from Finland is a non-profit organization that offers international marketing, seminars and consultations, and material related to improving saunas and sauna businesses within its network of over 200 companies.
World Sauna Forum is a business-to-business event created and organized by Sauna from Finland organiza-tion. Its purpose is to spread the message of the authentic Finnish sauna experience, help international sauna businesses thrive, and show the diversity of sauna innovations to the world. The event gathers sauna, spa and wellness industry experts from all over the world and offers a unique learning opportunity for all participants. The event consists of panel discussions, presentations, business meetings, and sauna bathing.
The objectives of this research are to help make the World Sauna Forum event more meaningful and worthy for international participants and to discover in more detail what the international participants want from the World Sauna Forum event. A qualitative research method was implemented in order to reach the objectives. Semi-structured interviews were utilized as a data collection method. The theoretical framework of this research is focused on service design and meaningful experiences and models within these topics. Based on the results of the interviews and the analysis of the data, development suggestions have been made and offered to the organizer of the World Sauna Forum event. The development suggestions created are related to the content of the event, the content and style of presentations, and the physical event space. As a result of the research, an improved customer journey map illustration was created for the benefit of the commissioner.
