Comics have become a form of creative expression, inspiring creators to bend and break the rules of design when it comes to storytelling through the bond of art and text. These stories in comics can be told and illustrated in countless different ways and will always find an audience. In a world where anyone can create a comic, the ability to create an immersive experience for one’s readers is a skill of its own.
The research of this thesis was aimed at what is required for immersion. This means the feeling of excitement about the progression of the story, and inability to put down the book before one has finished it. Elements such as story flow, page construction and a strong storyline among the other few were explored during the process.
The outcome of said research concluded that there are no one-size-fits-all stories, but various effective guidelines and details that have been proven effective. The aforementioned guidelines and details one can take into ac-count when planning a story to be told in the comic format. When a creator takes their time to organize key points for the story and select a visual style that will not hinder the said story, one can truly create a story that will be remembered and reread time after time.
