Artificial Intelligence (AI) has developed rapidly in recent years, and its use in game development has become increasingly common. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the potential of free AI-based generators in the development of game assets, and to use AI to create graphics, dialogue, and audio for an educational Virtual Reality (VR) prototype implemented in Unity. Multiple AI-generated images and sounds were generated and compared, considering their usability in the prototype, after which suitable images and sounds were selected and integrated into the Unity implementation. AI tools investigated and utilized in the thesis included Stable Diffusion, ChatGPT, and Narakeet among others.
As a result of the thesis, a VR prototype was created using AI, providing insight into the potential of AI as a game asset creation tool and the positive impact of AI in various fields. Due to the rapid development of AI, ongoing research into the current potential of AI-based generators is recommended and can be expanded to include paid alternatives for increased possibilities.
