Jätteenkeräyksen kehittäminen Meyer Turun telakan alueella

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimi kansainvälisesti tunnettu laivateollisuudenyhtiö Meyer Turku Oy. Työn aiheena oli kehittää telakan alueen jätteenkeräystä. Lähdin liikkeelle telakan tämänhetkisen jätehuollon selvittämisestä. Näiden tietojen pohjalta selvitin ja hahmottelin miten telakan jätehuolto voisi toimia tulevaisuudessa. Lopuksi esitin omia suosituksia, miten tulevaisuudessa jätteenkeräys toimisi paremmin, kustannustehokkaammin ja ympäristöystävällisemmin.

Opinnäytetyössä perehdyttiin aiheesta löytyvään teoria-aineistoon, työmaan toimihenkilöille tehtyihin haastatteluihin, omiin havaintoihin telakan alueen ympäristössä sekä vierailuihin toisiin teollisuuden alan yhtiöihin. Työmaan toimihenkilöitä haastattelemalla keräsin tietoa tämänhetkisestä jätelogistiikasta ja mitä parannuksia siihen olisi tehtävä tulevaisuudessa. Omilla havainnoillani selvitin jätehuollon ongelmakohtia ja niihin ratkaisusuosituksia. Vierailukäynneillä sain tietoa toisten teollisuuden yhtiöiden tavoista hoitaa jätehuoltoa.

Opinnäytetyön tuloksena selventyy telakan alueen tämänhetkisen jätehuollon tila ja suosituksia, miten tulevaisuudessa siitä saataisiin toimivampi ja tehokkaampi. Opinnäytetyötä varten kerättyä tietoa sekä suosituksia pystytään hyödyntämään jätehuollon suunnittelussa ja toteutuksessa Meyer Turun telakan alueella tulevien vuosien aikana.

The commissioner of the thesis was the internationally known shipbuilding company Meyer Turku Oy. The subject of the work was to develop waste collection at the shipyard area. First, the shipyard’s current waste management practices were investigated. Based on this information, the way how the yard’s waste management could work in the future was reviewed and outlined. Finally, recommendations were presented on how waste collection would work better and in a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner in the future.

In the scope of the thesis, theoretical material found on the subject was reviewed, interviews with site officials conducted, personal observations in the surroundings of the shipyard area and visits to the other industrial companies made. By interviewing the employees of the construction site, information was gathered on the current waste logistics and what improvements should be made to it in the future. Observations were made on the problem areas and solutions recommended to them. During the visits, information was gained on other industrial companies’ ways of handling waste management.

As a result of the thesis, the current status of the shipyard’s waste management and recommendations on how to make it more functional and efficient in the future will be clarified. The information and recommendations collected for the thesis can be used in the planning and implementation of waste management in the area of the Meyer Turku shipyard in the coming years.
