Encountering a Patient in an Intimate Hygiene Care Situation

Abstract

Intimate hygiene is a very important issue in wellbeing in general and it is very important in creating an understanding between the nurse and the patients. Nurse patient encounter is a connection that ensures that patients need are met. This is done through professional and effective communication since the recipient of care will be reviling vital and personal information that needs to be handled with a lot of care.

The purpose of this study was to design and produce a poster that will tell how nurses can encounter a patient in an intimate hygiene care situation. The objective of this study is to ensure that nurses can encounter patients in a better way which helps to improve communication and patients’ health, and patients should feel comfortable in expressing themselves.

The method adopted for this study was the waterfall method. In this method, the study is fully planned and executed through stages. The waterfall method was easy to follow, as it has a clear and simple structure. The study has 5 stages, initiation, planning, implementation, observation, and closure stage. One stage was fully completed before starting a new one.

The results of this thesis project were an informative poster on how nurses could encounter patients in intimate hygiene care. The content of the poster was limited to the most common responsibilities of nurses during an encounter. The feedback received was positive as it was stated that the poster was informative and useful, such as understanding the ability to provide high-quality care in an encounter.
