Tiivistelmä
In the world of entrepreneurship, women often face unique challenges when it comes to securing funding and resources for their businesses, particularly during the critical process of pitching their ideas. This thesis delves into the specific areas of pitch training that cater to the needs of women entrepreneurs. The author, who serves both as an author and a pitching coach, draws from extensive coaching experience spanning across 32 countries and 63 cities. This qualitative thesis explores the distinct preferences and requirements of women entrepreneurs in pitch programs by interviewing them. The central objective is to identify key startup pitching topics that resonate with women entrepreneurs embarking on their first ventures. Two research questions guide this study: (1) What are the important startup pitching topics addressed by women entrepreneurs? and (2) Why are these topics important for women entrepreneurs? This thesis begins by establishing a theoretical framework, encompassing definitions of pitching, an exploration of various pitching topics from both researcher and practitioner perspectives, and an examination of the role of gender in entrepreneurship and pitching. The thesis uncovers critical startup pitching topics addressed by women entrepreneurs, shedding light on their motivations for choosing these topics, using the SWOT analysis as a tool and data-oriented content analysis. The thesis shows internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external threats and opportunities, as factors influencing entrepreneur’s topics selection. This thesis contributes valuable insights into the world of pitch training for women entrepreneurs and highlights the importance of tailoring pitch programs to meet their unique needs. And, it emphasises the need for entrepreneurs to adapt their pitching strategies to diverse audiences, all within the context of their respective strengths, and weaknesses.
