Ompeleiden ja haavahakasten poisto : koulutusmateriaali MOOC- verkkokurssiin

Abstract

Hakaset ja ompeleet ovat haavansulkumenetelmiä, joita käytetään traumaattisten ja kirurgisten haavojen sulkuun. Haavansulkumenetelmiä käytetään, koska ne mahdollistavat haavan nopeamman paranemisen ja tukevat haavaa paranemisprosessin aikana. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on lisätä terveydenhuollon ammattilaisten sekä opiskelijoiden tietoutta ja osaamista ompeleiden ja hakasten poistosta. Toiminnallisen opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli luoda Turun ammattikorkeakoululle materiaalia MOOCiin, joka on kaikille avoin verkkokurssi.

Hakaset ja sulamattomat ompeleet tulee poistaa haavoilta, kun haava on saavuttanut riittävän vetolujuuden. Opinnäytetyössä on poistomenetelmien lisäksi käsitelty hakasia, ompeleita, ommeltekniikoita ja -aineita sekä verkko-opiskelua ja -kursseja, sillä materiaaleja tullaan käyttämään verkkokurssin pohjana. Poistotekniikan lisäksi on oleellista ymmärtää myös haavansulun perusteet, sillä esimerkiksi käytetty ommeltekniikka vaikuttaa ompeleiden poistotekniikkaan ja laajempi ymmärrys hyödyttää ammattilaista sekä parantaa potilasturvallisuutta. Ommelten ja hakasten poisto kuuluu sairaanhoitajan työkuvaan.

Materiaali perustuu kirjallisuuskatsaukseen ja sen pohjalta on luotu opiskelijan osaamista arvioiva tietotesti, joka koostuu kymmenestä monivalintakysymyksestä. Tietotesti tehtiin Word-tiedostoon, josta toimeksiantaja muokkaa sen haluamaansa pohjaan.

Surgical sutures and staples are wound closure methods used to close traumatic and surgical wounds. Wound closure methods are used to expedite the healing process and to support the wound while it is healing. The aim of the thesis was to enhance the competence and knowledge of health care professionals and students of surgical suture and staple removal. The purpose of this functional thesis was to produce educational material for a MOOC, which is a massive open online course.

Surgical staples and sutures must be removed when the wound has reached sufficient tensile strength of its own. In addition to the removal of wound closure methods this thesis elaborates on different kinds of surgical sutures, staples, suture techniques and materials to offer deeper understanding of wound closure. Suture technique affects the removal technique so wider knowledge of the subjects benefits the provider and improves patient safety. Suture and staple removal is usually performed by a registered nurse. The thesis also discusses online learning and courses, since the material is used to create one.

The educational material in the thesis is based on previous research articles and literature. This thesis contains a quiz that can be used to assess the student’s competence. The quiz is based on the educational material gathered in the thesis and consists of 10 multiple choice questions. The quiz was made into a word document, from where the principal can transfer it to their preferred form.
