Tiivistelmä
This thesis presents the development of a digital incubation model for the Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences' StartUp School and its (Re)-Startup pre-incubator program. Grounded in theoretical research, the model emphasizes early-stage entrepreneurship education, business accelerator/incubator operations, and online guidance methodologies. Through qualitative interviews with higher education entrepreneurship specialists, a functional operational model was constructed.
A significant tool in the model is the Business Model Canvas (BMC), which aids participants in tracking their business development and learning progress. A comprehensive literature review was done to understand current incubator and accelerator theories. The development approach used was constructive research. The initial operational model was shaped by Haaga-Helia's dedicated development team and further refined through group interviews with experts from Haaga-Helia's incubator program.
Upon completion of the model, an iterative testing phase was carried out to analyze its effectiveness and potential for real-world application. The development work also highlighted the model's adaptability, suggesting its potential use in different settings such as large businesses, educational institutions, non-profits, co-working spaces, and government programs.
In conclusion, the suggested digital incubation approach, centered on the Business Model Canvas, provides a detailed guiding framework for startups. This approach bridges the divide between theoretical frameworks and real-world business, helping to form a growth path for new enterprises. These insights are of great value to educational entities, incubators, and other parties interested in supporting emerging entrepreneurs.
