Tiivistelmä
This study describes eco-social wellbeing as recognised by people from newspaper articles. The theoretical framework combines definitions of nature-human relationships, sustainability, and eco-social well-being. Eco-social orientation em phasizes perception and experience to remind that we exist in the intertwined relationship with nature, while sustainability and eco-social well-being examines the balance and connection between nature and human so that all the parts contribute to the whole and balance each other while creating a better quality of life for now and for the future.
The research uses inductive discursive content analysis to find out what elements of eco-social well-being exists in people’s everyday lives. The results suggest that eco-social well-being is a multi-level phenomenon which everyone experiences it in their own way. Four discourses were identified from the data: activity, the interaction of the participant and the surrounding reality, personal growth of the participants dealing with meaningfulness and responsible participation. The results indicate that eco-social well-being is a useful concept in social sciences, providing people with important critical perspectives concerning the importance of inner growth, transition towards a state where all life is respected. Further research is required to do within the field of children and adolescents among Montessori education. How could we benefit from holistic pedagogy more today and in the future?
