Alternativ verksamhet till kristna aktiviteter inom småbarnspedagogiken: ändamålsenligt eller improviserat?

Abstract

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att granska förekomsten och dess likvärdighet av alternativ verksamhet till kristna traditioner och aktiviteter inom småbarnspedagogiken i Finland. De centrala frågeställningarna i detta examensarbete är: Är barnets individuella plan utarbetat på sådant vis att den alternativa verksamheten framgår och dess innehåll är framställt utgående från barnet och vårdnadshavarens önskemål? Är barnens alternativa verksamhet likvärdig med vad barnen får som deltar i aktiviteter kopplat till kristendomen på verksamheten? Planeras, dokumenteras och utvärderas den alternativa verksamheten inom småbarnspedagogiken?

I teorin förklaras centrala begrepp som relaterar till forskningens syfte och frågeställningar. Teorin förklarar hurdana lagar, styrdokument och anvisningar som understöder alternativ verksamhet och hur den bör genomföras. Något som även tagits fasta på i teorin är hur vårdnadshavare och personal ställer sig till religion inom småbarnspedagogiken.

Undersökningen genomfördes som en kvantitativ webbenkät där totalt 26 respondenter deltog. Resultaten visade att planering, dokumentering och utvärdering av den alternativa verksamheten inte genomförs i lika stor utsträckning som annan pedagogisk verksamhet på daghemmen. Resultaten visade även att vårdnadshavarna inte är involverade i den alternativa verksamhetens innehåll, och majoriteten av respondenterna i den här enkäten ansåg att den alternativa verksamheten inte är, eller endast ibland är likvärdig till den verksamhet med religiösa inslag som de övriga barnen på verksamheten får tillgång till.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the existence and its equivalence of alternative program to Christian traditions and activities in early childhood education in Finland. The central questions in this thesis are: Is the child's individual plan drawn up in such a way that the alternative program is shown and it’s content is based on the wishes of the child and the guardian? Are the children's alternative activities equivalent to what the children receive who participate in activities linked to Christianity at the establishment? Are the alternative programs in early childhood education planned, documented and evaluated?

In the theoretical segment of this study, central concepts that relate to the purpose and questions of the research are explained. The theoretical segment explains what kind of laws, governing documents and instructions support alternative programs and how they should be implemented. Something that has also been taken into account in the theoretical segment is how guardians and staff approach religion in early childhood education.

The survey was conducted as a quantitative websurvey in which a total of 26 respondents participated. The results showed that planning, documentation and evaluation of the alternative programare not carried out to the same extent as other educational activities in the day care centers. The results also showed that the guardians are not involved in the content of the alternative program, and the majority of respondents in this survey considered that the alternative programs are not, or are only sometimes, equivalent to the activities with religious elements that the other children at the activities have access to.
