A crucial position is held by sulfuric acid as a fundamental chemical compound widely utilized in various industries, which highlights the paramount importance of maintaining its purity. In this thesis, the deleterious effects of impurities present in sulfuric acid and their profound impact on its overall quality are thoroughly investigated. Comprehensive assessments encompassing purity, acidity, corrosiveness, and color and clarity shed light on the critical aspects that can be compromised by impurities, leading to undesirable outcomes in industrial processes. Significant importance is assumed by understanding the sources of impurities in optimizing industrial processes, particularly in cases where substantial amounts of sulfur dioxide are produced by smelting industries, posing environmental hazards. The relevance of impurity sources is recognized in this research, and effective cooling, cleaning, dilution with weak sulfur dioxide process gas or air and drying of the gas methods. Furthermore, the removal of mercury, fluoride and arsenic are aimed to be implemented during metallurgical offgas treatment, ensuring the preservation of sulfuric acid purity and overall quality.
