The aim of this thesis is to find out what motivates students while studying an industry with changes. These days with different factors such as global warming, the recent Covid 19 pandemic and many other occurrences have greatly impacted tourism. This has turned the tourism industry into a fast-paced industry with quick changes. However, with the aforesaid information, how are students able to keep up with an industry with many changes?
Motivation sounds like something, that could be force driving students to remain interested into studying tourism, since motivation is something that needs to be almost nurtured. The quest will be to find out nutrition, that pushes students forward in their studies of tourism industry.
The knowledge base of the thesis deals with Covid-19 pandemic and its implication on the tourism industry. The knowledge base delves deeper into motivation, student motivation and motivation theories. Tourism and problem areas and risks are also presented in the knowledge base. In addition, the thesis also deals with sustainability.
The research consisted of desktop research. Concepts from literature material, such as online articles, videos, news were reviewed to understand key concepts in the field.
This research was employed by a Webropol survey. This thesis used a quantitative method. The quantitative part of the study was carried out using an online questionnaire. The aim was to obtain a general view. In addition, empirical research was conducted because a Webropol survey that gathered in total 51responses.
The goal of this thesis was to gain insights and identify what motivates students, also to find out are there any factor or factors which motivate students to maintain their interest towards the changing tourism industry? In this thesis we want to understand how to motivate students or how students get motivated.
The research revealed that the pandemic did effect students in a negative way. Changes did also affect some students. Motivation is something that keep individuals going it also explains the why people behave the way they do.
