Tiivistelmä
This master’s thesis aims to investigate the positive and negative impacts of digitalization on employee engagement within organization change management process. As we all know that the world becomes increasingly interconnected and technology driven, organizations are adopting digital tools and fostering innovative business solutions to stay competitive on their peer’s organizations, providing exceptional services to their customers and making lasting impact on overall business success.
However, impacts of these changes on employee engagement remains a complex in nature and evolving area of comprehensive study to mitigate the further consequences on employee engagement. This research seeks to uncover both the positive and negative impacts of digitalization on employee engagement, offering insights into the organizational strategies to enhance the employee engagement.
The advantages of digitalization are examined from the perspectives of employee engagement which facilitate enhanced productivity, adaptability, and employee well-being. Employees empowerment through digital tools and technology enables employees to optimize the processes, facilitate collaboration, and foster an environment of operational enhancement. This research investigates how these positive impacts can raise general employees’ satisfaction and engagement levels.
On the other hand, this research explored the possible drawbacks of digitalization on employee engagement, addressing issues like job insecurity, technological stress, and the breakdown of interpersonal relationships. The faster pace at which technology is developing can occasionally cause employees to feel disconnected or anxious about the relevance of their jobs.
The research structure for this study has developed based on a case study while using semi-structured telephone interviews with case company employees by utilizing a qualitative approach. This study approach allows the author to develop the connection between existing theories and empirical findings and further facilitate comprehensive analysis.
