Strategic analysis of Chongqing Wulong Xiannushan Airport

Abstract

Considering the quick recovery of Chinese economy after epidemic and the steady progress of the construction of the Twin City Economic Circle in the southwest, the construction of comprehensive transportation network is also accelerating, among which the development momentum of the airport transportation industry is strong. As a key component of Chongqing's "one major and four minor" airport layout in its southeastern region, Chongqing Wulong Xiannushan Airport significantly contributes to the growth of both the local tourism industry and the economic prosperity of neighboring areas. Since the commuting of Wulong Xiannushan Airport in 2020, the competition in the airport industry has become more and more fiercy. Wulong Xiannushan Airport has not performed well in the data of recent years, coupled with the defects such as incomplete infrastructure and fewer routes, Wulong Xiannushan Airport is in urgent need of developing measures in line with the reality. Based on SWOT analysis, PEST model and Porter Five forces model, this paper analyzes the internal and external environment of Wulong Xiannushan Airport, identifies its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges, and makes clear that Wulong Xiannushan Airport should adopt a growth strategy and puts forward suggestions and measures on this basis.
