The purpose of this study is to ascertain the nurses’ role in the coping process after amputation, with the goal of improving holistic care after amputation. A literature review is the research method used for this study.
The data collection process for this thesis involved several key stages. The first stage included conducting searches within various databases such as CINAHL, PubMed, Sage Journals, and Google Scholar. The articles were published in English within the last decade (2013-2023) and are available in full text. After retrieving search results, the pool of articles was narrowed down by reviewing titles and abstracts. Articles were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria. The final stage of data collection overlapped with the initial steps of data analysis. Each selected article was thoroughly examined to determine its relevance to the research question. This involved reading through the entire article to assess its content and whether it addressed the research inquiry effectively. After the data collection, five articles were deemed relevant to the research question and included in the study. These steps demonstrated a systematic approach to gathering and selecting pertinent literature for the thesis, ensuring that the chosen articles aligned with the research objectives and contributed meaningfully to the study.
Overall, the results suggest that nurses play a pivotal role in enhancing holistic care for individuals undergoing amputation, by offering comprehensive support encompassing physical, psychological, and social aspects throughout the coping process.
