This thesis aims to find out the current state of employee motivation at case company x and clarify how they can improve their employee motivation. The data was gathered with a survey that contained 11 questions. The employees of case company x answered the online survey anonymously. The analysis contained qualitative and quantitative methods as there were numerical answer possibilities as well as open-ended questions. The survey received 14 responses within a week range of time.
The current state of employee motivation at the case company x is on average level as with numbers 7/10. Half of the employees feel themselves motivated. Most of the employees are mostly motivated through salary. The supervisors are doing a great job with motivating the employees as the employees praised the great support and feedback that their managers and supervisors are providing.
As for the future, it is suggested that the case company x asks the new employees in the beginning of the employment what is the most important motivational factor for them to be able to support their employees motivation through the employment. The case company x is recommended to do a similar survey, as conducted for this thesis, more often to ensure that the knowledge of the current situation of employee motivation is noted and acted on. The motivational factors can change according to the situation in one’s life. Therefore, it is important to keep on track on how the motivational factors change.
The plans for the near future for the case company are to go through the company values ja provide clear instructions to the employees on what they are expected to perform. The instructions provide information about bonus possibilities and make it easier to know the performance indicators. The case company is suggested to communicate more with the employees and provide enough time on feedback dialogues. A possibility to take part of trainings and courses should be offered. Trainings offered to the employees will not only increase the employee motivation, but it will also make better assets to the case company.
