The COVID-19 pandemic that emerged in early 2020, caused disruptions globally impacting various sectors including economies and financial markets. This gave a suitable opportunity to gather insights for investors on the pandemic's effects on the risk and return dynamics within the Finnish stock market.
This study investigated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Finnish stock market, focusing specifically on the manufacturing sector. Comprehensive calculations and analysis were conducted to see how companies within this sector responded to the pandemic in terms of risk, return and risk-adjusted return.
The findings of the study revealed mixed results between companies concerning their risk, return, and risk-adjusted returns. Some companies performed better than others and volatility was discovered. It became evident that COVID-19 pandemic played a role in changes in equity investments.
The study contributes for a better understanding of the pandemic's implications for the Finnish manufacturing sector and offer insights for investors through future crises.
