This bachelor's thesis discusses the importance of employing organic fertilizers in Mexican mango production to facilitate efficient exportation to the European Union. The overall purpose was to analyze the mango industry, focusing on several key aspects: mango production in Mexico, the significance and role of organic fertilizers in Mexican mango cultivation, and the export requirements to the European Union. Therefore, the research aimed to gain insights into the current practices and challenges faced in mango production and the challenges encountered in meeting export standards.
The study was based on qualitative methods, using three surveys with open-ended and multiple-option questions conducted among various stakeholders in the mango industry, including mango producers, organic fertilizer vendors, and exporters. These stakeholders were specifically chosen to represent the diverse aspects of the mango supply chain. The research focused on Guerrero, which is recognized as one of the prominent mango-producing states in Mexico. By collecting this data, the research ensures a deeper understanding of the factors influencing mango production and exportation.
The results showed several advantages of using organic fertilization methods; from the perspective of stakeholders in the mango industry, adopting more sustainable production practices is essential. Therefore, this change is necessary to guarantee an increase in the country's mango export levels. The fact that chemical products can affect mango quality, safety, and access to international markets underlines the importance of adopting these practices; this will improve the quality of mango produced and open new opportunities in the global market. By meeting export requirements, mango producers are expected to increase their export volumes significantly, contributing to the country's economic growth.
The research highlights the feasibility and need to implement organic fertilizers in mango production in Mexico to improve product quality and meet export standards to the European Union. This focus on more sustainable practices benefits producers and exporters and promotes the country's economic growth through increased mango exports.
