This thesis investigates the use of Artificial Intelligence based tools in the development of Virtual Reality applications, with a specific focus on education. At a time when AI tools are evolving at a rapid pace, this thesis aims to suggest a list of current AI based tools, share insights into preferences, steps to building a prototype, and discuss how this could be useful specifically to educators. The methodology used in this thesis is a combination of case studies and constructive research.
The study aims to identify the most preferred AI applications for VR development by analysing user preferences through surveys. The survey consisted of outputs from various AI-based tools, and data was collected from 72 respondents. As per the results of the survey, the preferred applications are Elevenlabs for Audio narration, Skybox AI for 360 images/environment, Adobe Firefly for images, Meshy AI for 3D models, Claude AI for scripts and RunwayML for videos.
The research involves developing a prototype VR application based on Unity as an example from the survey insights to demonstrate the practical application of the AI tools. Steps to create a prototype have been explained in detail. This is beneficial to anyone interested in creating such a prototype.
The study also provides a detailed list of recommendations for AI tools that can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of VR development. Finally, it provides ways how it could be used by educators.
This thesis can contribute to these fast evolving fields by offering valuable perspectives on the use of AI in VR, aiming to create more impactful learning experiences.
