The fashion and clothing industry presents various opportunities and challenges in international trade. This research aimed to explore the challenges entrepreneurs faced when importing clothing items from Bangladesh to Finland. The objective was to gain insights into the broader implications of these import activities, focusing on policy development, strategic planning, ethical behavior, and entrepreneurship. A theoretical framework based on existing literature emphasized regulatory compliance, market understanding, and operational efficiency.
The empirical study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with entrepreneurs and importers, analyzed through thematic analysis. This approach combined both inductive and deductive methods to ensure comprehensive coverage of the research questions. Data collection involved six detailed interviews, and the analysis focused on identifying common themes and patterns in the experiences of the participants.
The findings revealed key challenges in regulatory compliance, market entry, and distribution management. Entrepreneurs employed various technological tools and leveraged external support to navigate these challenges. The study highlighted the importance of strategic planning and adaptation in international trade, showcasing how technological advancements and institutional support are crucial in overcoming obstacles. This research contributes to the existing literature by providing practical recommendations for entrepreneurs and stakeholders involved in the importation of garments, emphasizing the necessity for innovative strategies and collaboration in the global market.
