Tiivistelmä
This thesis compares the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reports of two prominent clothing brands: Marimekko, a sustainable Finnish brand, and Uniqlo, a global fast-fashion giant. The aim is to identify and analyze their sustainability practices, highlight key differences, and offer recommendations for both brands to improve their environmental and social impact. The analysis focuses on three key areas: materials and procurement, production and manufacturing, and labor and working conditions. By examining each brand's CSR reporting, policies, and initiatives, this article seeks to understand their approach to sustainable sourcing, ethical production, and fair labor practices. Then, UN sustainability goals or other model CSR reports can be used as a reference to analyze the performance of the two companies. Overall, this article contributes to the ongoing sustainable fashion debate by comparing the approaches of two different brands. Providing insights and advice encourages the apparel industry to adopt more responsible practices that promote environmental and social well-being.
