Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis is to provide a company with a mechanical engineering design handbook. The handbook is to be supported by research, data collection and professional views. The handbook will be online and continuously updated with new, relevant and useful content for the company. The in-depth research was regarding theories and practices of computer-aided design (CAD) 3D modelling.
The research was combined with surveys and interviews of professionals both from within the company and externally to get varying perspectives and opinions about best practices and preferred modelling ideologies. The information and perspectives gathered are documented in this thesis. However, names and company information have been kept anonymous.
The thesis explains the objective for producing a design handbook for a company. The methods, software, goals and outcomes experienced throughout delivering the design handbook are also documented. Some images which have been used in the design handbook, but do not show confidential information, have been added to help readers understand the content.
A conclusion at the end of the thesis evaluates how the project went overall, if expectations were met and what could have been done differently. A personal review details the learning outcomes and challenges experienced throughout the design handbook project.
