Tiivistelmä
The thesis was conducted by the author to reflect on his process of developing his ability as a coach to provide feedback to his U16 players, on collective and individual level. The thesis was an 8-week process in which the author was exposed to new ideas and innovative methods of providing feedback to his youth soccer players, writing daily diaries and weekly analyses, to reflect on the experience and the development rise. The timeline of the diary entries is from 4th of March until 28th of April.


The thesis includes an introduction with the author’s main responsibilities in the football club he is working at, FC Honka, as well as the framework as a head coach with the skills needed to cope with the tasks he is assigned for. Apart from the analysis of the author’s work, the thesis also includes the stakeholders involved in the author’s workplace, as well as interaction situations and the challenges that may appear. The background of the thesis comes from the intention of the author to create a more appropriate learning environment for the athletes, while the objective of the process is that by the end of the thesis, the author has developed a feedback skillset to use for the future with his teams, promoting a beneficial learning process for his current players to improve. In order to achieve it, the author has invested time into learning about various methods of providing feedback and key points to pay attention to when doing so, transferring the theory into his coaching process.

The methods used were perusing the theory aspect through two book sources which provided an angle of the psychological aspect of feedback, while also the practical ideas for implementation.
The end conclusion consists of the significant development of the author’s coaching ability, who has attained valuable knowledge and sharpened his people-management skills to deal with different athlete profiles. In addition, there was a notable refinement of the athletes' skills, as they have undergone through an optimal environment for improvement, due to the author’s utilisation of the feedback concepts.
