Tiivistelmä
This thesis examined the perceptions and preferences of university students, with a particular focus on environmental sustainability and employer attractiveness. The aim was to understand how these factors influence students' career decisions.
The study was conducted through an online survey completed by 246 participants, mainly consisting of Generation Z individuals from Finland and Germany. Participants provided demographic information and answered questions about their attitudes toward environmental sustainability, their research behavior about companies, and factors that influence their career choices.
The analysis revealed that students prioritize factors such as salary, work-life balance, and career development opportunities when considering job applications. While environmental sustainability was not a top priority, there was a reluctance to apply to companies known for poor sustainability practices. The study also found correlations between feeling informed about sustainability and environmental awareness, a s well as the importance placed on sustainability in job applications.
These findings suggested that companies need to emphasize their sustainability efforts in order to be more effective in attracting young talent. Overall, the study provided valuable insights into students' attitudes toward environmental sustainability and employer attractiveness.
