Hitaat kukat -viljelmän perustaminen avomaalle

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli saada kokemuspohjaista tietoa leikkokukkaviljelmän perustamisesta avomaalle luonnonmukaisin menetelmin ja saada valmiudet sellaisen perustamiseen. Työssä ei ole laskettu kustannuksia tai tehty liiketoimintasuunnitelmaa, vaan työssä on keskitytty pelkästään viljelmän perustamiseen käytännön kautta. Työn tilaajana oli Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulu. Tässä työssä on keskitytty ainoastaan kukkiviin leikkokukkiin. Opinnäytetyötä varten oli haastateltu kahta leikkokukkaviljelijää. Molemmat yrittäjät olivat Keski-Suomesta. Toinen haastatteluista toteutettiin sähköpostikyselynä ja toinen teemahaastatteluna. Molemmat tiedonhankinnat tehtiin tammikuun 2024 aikana. Viljelmän perustamisen suunnitteluvaiheessa todettiin, että kasvilajien lajikekohtaisilla valinnoilla on suuri merkitys sadon alkamisajankohtaan. Aikaiset lajikkeet voivat alkaa kukkia jo kesäkuun puolella, kun taas myöhäisemmät lajikkeet ajoittuvat vasta heinäkuun puolelle. Kylväminen kahdessa tai useammassa erässä pidentää satokautta. Luonnonmukaista viljelyä toteutettaessa viljelykierrolla on suuri merkitys kasvitautien ja -tuhoojien torjunnassa. Mitään kasvia ei viljellä samalla paikalla peräkkäisinä vuosina. Mahdollisia kasvintuhoojia torjutaan mekaanisesti. Viljelypinta-alan ollessa suuri, käytännön toteutus voi olla vaikeaa, mikäli tuholaisia esiintyisi runsaasti. Tätä työtä varten kerätyn tietoperustan perusteella ammattimaiseen viljelyyn arvioidaan riittävän 10 aarin pinta-ala.

The purpose of the thesis was to get experience-based information on creating a slow flower farm in an open field with natural methods. Furthermore, another goal was to build a skillset for implementing a slow flower farm. This work did not involve a cost estimate, and a business plan was not produced since the work focused only on creating a farm through practice. This thesis was commissioned by Häme University of Applied Sciences. The work is focused only on flowering cut flowers. Two cut flower growers were interviewed for this thesis. Both entrepreneurs were from Central Finland. One of the interviews was conducted by email and the other by theme interview. Both interviews were conducted during January 2024. When planning the creation of the farm, it was discovered that choosing a variety of choices for plant species plays a huge importance of harvest start time. The early varieties start flowering already in June, while the later varieties start flowering only in July. Sowing in two or more times during the season extend the overall harvest season. When the cultivation is natural, crop rotation is one of the most important things. Crop rotation has a huge importance in the fight against plant diseases and pests and, thus, plants are planted to grow in different places every year. Any appearing plant pests are controlled mechanically. If the cultivated area is large, practical implementation may be difficult if there are many pests. Based on the database collected for this work, an area of 10 acres is estimated to be sufficient for professional cultivation.
