Tiivistelmä
This portfolio aims to give readers a clear and useful information about the navigational equipment of RoRo vessels. It also presents my journey of research, education, and comprehension of the details of the navigational equipment. The reason behind this is to learn deeper about all the equipment used for navigation and how they are handled in Eco class vessels, and to provide information that is easy to read and access.
The portfolio starts with a brief overview and general information about the Eco-class RoRo vessels, before moving to the navigational equipment found in the bridge, preparations before departure and arrival for both bridge and engine room, the machinery needed for navigating and maneuvering. There is also a brief explanation about what makes the ship environmentally friendly. Finally, the risks associated with the engine room are discussed with the Chief and First engineer. In a recorded conversation we go through the risks that might occur, how to prevent and minimize these incidents. All the main points and vital parts of the conversation are written in the portfolio under different topics.
I was working onboard Finneco I as an Ordinary Seaman in 2023, and all pictures used in this portfolio were taken by me during that time. As sources to the text I have used ship manuals, articles, webpages, and books, that are all listed at the end in the Reference List. The portfolio was made during and after my employment in 2023-2024.
