Tiivistelmä
The creation of an educational video designed to highlight OLKA activities for English speakers of Satasairaala, Finland, is the focus of this project. OLKA is a non-profit organization that provides care and support to patients and their loved ones in hospital settings where volunteer opportunities and community engagement are made available. The project aimed to inform English-speaking people in Satakunta about OLKA services and to encourage volunteerism and patient-centered care.
The project consisted of several stages including initial discussions, collecting theoretical knowledge about the topic, planning, execution, and review. Through engagement with OLKA staff and volunteers, the project team developed an understanding of the mission and activities of OLKA. The knowledge gathered was used to produce the manuscript for the educational video which is the primary deliverable for the project.
Key action items in the project timeline involved the manuscript development and the presentation of project plans to subscribers. The execution phase included video shooting, editing, and final approval. The project culminated with the video’s acceptance by subscribers.
Throughout the project, ethical issues were paramount with an emphasis on individuals’ dignity, rights, and welfare. Economical use of resources was a concern and the team strived to use them most effectively to attain the project aims.
In final, this project is a snapshot of a collaborative effort to raise awareness of OLKA activities for English speakers in Satasairaala and the hope that by encouraging individuals to volunteer and practice patient-centered care, the educational video will foster community engagement and provide position support for the patient and family.
