The purpose of this study is to uncover the nature of fishermen and find out what factors motivate them to stay in the industry. Fishermen are primarily engaged in physically demanding and hazardous work, with their livelihood dependent on the fish they catch. At the same time, workers on fishing vessels exert physical effort to process fish, which can sometimes cause health problems. The development of technology partially alleviates the work of employees on board but cannot fully compensate for the physical load. Additionally, fishermen may face concerns when certain factors hinder fishing, such as a low fishing season, lack of quota, or restricted fishing zones. Despite these challenges, fishermen persist in their work, driven by various factors. Usually this happens because fishermen need money, but for some, fishing is part of life, and they are completely dedicated to it. In the offshore fishing fleet, newcomers can advance through the ranks to high positions through a certificate of competency. This highlights that education in the fishing fleet is valuable and can motivate people as it impacts life’s well-being, but it must be accompanied by a combination of experience and a desire to work. In this work, I'm going to describe the intrinsic and extrinsic motivators of fishermen, find out what concern fishermen, and find out how working on board affects health.
