This thesis takes the Gulei Peninsula of Zhangzhou as an example to analyse the decision-making criteria for China’s next Petrochemical Base. Under the favourable natural environment, well-developed transport links and demand for petrochemical products, many petrochemical companies have set up bases at the Gulei Pen-insula of Zhangzhou. The choice of the site not only considers the infrastructure prerequisites, including land resources and geology, transport and logistics but also is based on the strategies for long-term factors, including customer needs, environmental protection and sustainable development. Government and institutional support, regional economic integration, technological advancements, and innovation have also influenced the selection of petrochemical sites. This case can be a reference for selecting the site location of petrochemical bases.
