Tiivistelmä
The international dimension of nursing education has facilitated the growth of international nursing students globally with Finland inclusive. This thesis addressed the experiences of international nursing students in public and private clinical settings during their nursing studies in Finland.

The purpose of this qualitative research study is to conduct interviews with international students to explore their experience in clinical practice and the thesis aims to help professionals understand international students' experiences during their clinical practice and make recommendations that can be used to improve guidance for international nursing students.

The study used online focus group interviews providing more detailed information about the study. Data from the interview were analysed using inductive content analysis. Based on the result, the study articulated three central themes related to the mentorship received by international nursing students during their clinical experiences: positive interactions, challenges faced, and recommendations for future improvements.

The research concludes that the overall experiences of these students were mixed in nature. It indicates that students experienced a spectrum of interactions with their mentors, with some being constructive and others not meeting expectations. Furthermore, it was noted that some mentors faced challenges regarding their effectiveness in mentoring international students. This research highlights the critical need for mentors to recognize the increased stress levels, learning limitations, and restricted opportunities that these students often encounter. It also points out the role of university support and its associated limitations.
