The aim of the thesis was to explore the vital role of change leadership skills in guiding technology driven organizations through today’s rapidly evolving global technological environment. By building on the theoretical knowledge, frameworks, references and practical learnings, this research aimed to highlight the additional skills needed for an effective change leader for the case ‘Organization X’s research and development team.
The research methodology included a dual approach, using quantitative method in the form of survey and using qualitative method in the form of semi-structured interviews with selected leaders from similar technological domain that case ‘Organization X’ operates in.
Key findings highlighted the importance of vision, clear communication, emotional intelligence, and technology acumen in managing the change. Effective change leaders are recognized by their ability to create a solid vision, communicate transparently, foster a culture of trust and Innovation, and support continuous improvement. The study also highlighted the significance of transformational leadership in inspiring employees to adopt the change.
The thesis concludes by identifying key skills and challenges for improving change leadership, that case ‘Organization X’ can invest in future leadership development programs to accelerate its transformation towards future changes. It highlights the essential role of effective leadership in achieving sustainable organizational change and improving organizational performance.
