Tiivistelmä
The aim of this thesis was to build an Ekokompassi environmental management system for the Porispere festival. This was done so the Porispere Festival would have the opportunity to obtain the Ekokompassi certificate in recognition of their actions towards a more environmentally friendly music festival.
This practice-based thesis was conducted by qualitative methods. The theoretical part includes basic information about the commissioner, the Ekokompassi –organisation, and the venue where the music festival is held. The theoretical part also contains information about the ISO-14001 standard, sustainability, and event management. All information was collected through various literature and reliable websites.
The functional product part of the thesis focuses on the process of how the environmental management system is built. As the Ekokompassi environmental management system has a clear structure, the steps are presented in the order in which they are performed.
The results gained from this thesis are aligned with the set objectives. The environmental management system has been completed, and the last step of obtaining the Ekokompassi certificate is being finalised as scheduled.
Porispere has been doing environmental work on their own throughout their operating years. Therefore, the Ekokompassi process was easy to conduct, as only minor modifications to their operations are needed in the future. Obtaining the Ekokompassi certificate will help Porispere Ltd in their efforts, and, through the certificate, they can demand actions from their subcontractors as well.
