Terveysalan harjoitteluihin taskusanakirja keskeisistä fraaseista : suomi–englanti

Abstract

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli luoda opetusmateriaalia Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulun kaksikielisen sairaanhoitajaopetuksen sekä SAILA-hankkeen opiskelijoille suomen kielen alkeista hoitotyössä. Opetusmateriaali on taskusanakirjan muodossa ja sen kielet ovat suomi–englanti. Opinnäytetyön tilaajana toimii Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulun viestinnän opettaja Minna Inovaara. Opinnäytetyön tietoperusta kuvaa monikulttuurisuutta hoitotyön työyhteisöissä, mikä myös perustelee työn tuotoksen tarpeellisuutta. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on, että kohderyhmä hyötyy taskusanakirjasta erityisesti ensimmäisessä hoitotyön harjoittelussa, joka useimmiten sijoittuu ikääntyneiden hoitotyöhön ja keskeisintä on perushoitotyö. Taskusanakirjan sisältö on luotu potilaan tai asiakkaan kanssa käytäviin vuorovaikutustilanteisiin. Opinnäytetyö on toteutettu toiminnallisella menetelmällä, eli se sisältää aiheeseen liittyvän tietoperustan sekä työelämälähtöisenä tuotteena taskusanakirjan. Terveysalan monikulttuurisuus on ajankohtainen aihe ja tietoperusta on rajattu tarkastelemaan työyhteisön monikulttuurisuutta. Maahanmuuttajataustaisten hoitajien ja terveysalan opiskelijoiden suurimpana haasteena ja työllistymisen esteenä on ollut puutteellinen kielitaito. Maahanmuuttajataustaiset sairaanhoitajat ovat kokeneet kielen opetuksen olleen puutteellinen ammatin laillistamisväylän opinnoissa. Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi tiivis ja helppokäyttöinen suomi–englanti-taskusanakirja, joka tukee kaksikielisen sairaanhoitajaopetuksen sekä SAILA-hankkeen opiskelijoiden kielen oppimista ensimmäisissä harjoitteluissa. Fyysisesti taskusanakirja on taiteltu haitarimallisesti, mikä lisää sen käytännön toimivuutta. Opinnäytetyön toiminnallisen osuuden tuotos tarjoaa opettajalle valmiin työkalun ryhmien opetuksen toteuttamiseen. Monikulttuurisuus tulee lisääntymään terveysalan työyhteisöissä ja tulevaisuudessa on aiheellista tuottaa enemmän opetusmateriaalia suomen kielen opetukseen terveysalan opinnoissa. Hämeen ammattikorkeakoulussa ei ole aikaisemmin tehty taskusanakirjoja ja tulevaisuudessa niitä on mahdollista tehdä lisää monista eri aiheista ja erilaisiin hoitotyön ympäristöihin liittyen. Uuden kielen oppimista edistää erityisesti aidot tilanteet työympäristöissä.

The purpose of the thesis was to create teaching material for students in bilingual nursing education at Häme University of Applied Sciences and the SAILA project. The teaching material is about the basics of Finnish language in nursing. The teaching material is in the form of a pocket dictionary and its languages are Finnish-English. The thesis was commissioned by Minna Inovaara, a communications teacher at Häme University of Applied Sciences. The knowledge base of the thesis describes multiculturalism in nursing work communities, which also justifies the need for the output of the work. The aim of the thesis is for the target group to benefit from a pocket dictionary, especially in the first nursing practice, which most often takes place in the nursing work of the elderly and the most important is basic nursing work. The contents of the pocket dictionary are created for interactions with the patient or client. The thesis has been carried out using a functional method, so it contains a knowledge base related to the topic as well as pocket dictionary as a working life-oriented product. Multiculturalism in the health care is a topical topic and the knowledge base is limited to examining multiculturalism in the work community. The greatest challenge and obstacle to employment for nurses with an immigrant background and health care students has been the lack of language skills. Nurses with an immigrant background have felt that Finnish language teaching was deficient in the studies of the legalisation pathway of the profession. The result of the thesis was a concise and easy-to-use pocket dictionary for Finnish–English, which supports the language learning of bilingual nursing education and students of the SAILA project in their first internships. Physically, the pocket dictionary is folded in an accordion-like manner, which increases its practical functionality. The output of the functional part of the thesis provides the teacher with a ready-made tool for implementing the teaching of the groups. Multiculturalism will increase in health care work communities and it will be appropriate in the future to produce more teaching material for teaching Finnish in health care studies. No pocket dictionaries have been made at Häme University of Applied Sciences before, and in the future, it will be possible to make more of them on many different topics and in relation to different nursing environments. Learning a new language is especially promoted by authentic situations in work environments.
