Tiivistelmä
The topic of this thesis is the use of AI in accounts payable processes. The thesis was a research on the subject and there was no commissioning party. The goal of the research was to find out what are the ways to use AI in Finnish companies, how much it is in use and what benefits and risks exist. The goal was also to find out how many companies are actually using AI at this moment. The reason for this topic was the writer’s own interest in Ai and position in accounts payable.
The research was conducted by doing theoretical research through different sources that could be found on the subject. In addition, a questionnaire was used to ask from Finnish companies about their AI usage and opinions. After this the results from both have been analyzed for correlations and differences as well as on their own.
On the theoretical research the topics were AI and accounts payable and opening these up so that the reader can understand them properly before analyzing the questionnaire results. After that, the results were analyzed and compared to the research that was already done. This helped to find connections and new ideas.
The thesis brought up a lot of thoughts about the research. It seemed that AI is not in use as much in Finland as one might think. There were some examples of companies having good results in trying AI out in accounts payable processes. It seems like AI would be very useful for midsize to big companies and less useful for small companies with a small amount of data to use. This was shown in both the theoretical part of the research as well as answers from the companies. There were many benefits but risks too, like data security and the cost in the beginning. It was also found that as useful as AI can be, it will not replace humans for now. People will still be needed to check the AI’s results and fix any possible mistakes.
