Enhancing Morocco's legal framework for e-commerce : a strategic pathway to economic growth

Abstract

The thesis examined how strengthening Morocco's e-commerce legal framework could encourage economic growth, using South Africa as a benchmark. It pinpointed prevailing legal and regulatory shortcomings in Morocco—such as inadequate consumer protection, payment security, and legal recourse for disputes. The research portrayed a strong potential economic advantage stemming from formalizing regulations on e-commerce in the country by boosting tax revenues, encouraging foreign investment, and supporting entrepreneurship. Darwing from South Africa's experience, the research underscored best practices Morocco could apply to develop a digital economy that would create jobs and increase its competitiveness in the global market.
