Tiivistelmä
Effective decision-making is an essential leadership skill, and emotional intelligence (EI) significantly enhances this ability within organizations. This thesis examines how emotional intelligence (EI) impacts leaders’ decision-making at Company A, using Daniel Goleman's EI model as a framework. The aim of this study is to explore how leaders' decision-making is influenced by the four dimensions of emotional intelligent: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.

Based on in-depth qualitative interviews with leaders from various departments at Company A, the study reveals that leaders with high self-awareness and emotional regulation are more likely to make fair and empathetic decisions. Techniques like emotional regulation and mindfulness assist leaders in staying composed and attentive on long-term goals during crisis. Leaders with social awareness, through empathy and active listening, understand their team emotional environment, boosting morale and productivity. Furthermore, effective relationship management, based on open communication and trust, promotes cooperation and dispute resolution.

The study concludes with recommendations to enhance self-reflection techniques, provide empathy training, implement stress management programs, and achieving equilibrium between objectivity and empathy while making decisions. These findings demonstrate the significant impact of emotional intelligence (EI) on enhancing leaders’ decision-making and contributing to the success of the Company A.
