Tiivistelmä
The thesis objective was to describe, define and develop the international student’s journey to Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (SAMK) by using Service Design. The employees and population in Finland is decreasing and aging. In the future, it is planned that a greater number of international degree students will come to study and graduate from SAMK and then stay and work in the Satakunta area. Therefore, their journey to SAMK is important to understand.
The theory base of the thesis is about Education Export, Service Design and marketing. The main service design methods and tools used in the thesis were co-design sessions, workshops and questionnaires.
As result the described international student’s journey through several steps brings added value for the applicant, the international student, and for SAMK.
Utilizing service design thinking in the future in the work of Education Export Team of SAMK is important. This means constantly updating at least stakeholder map, weak signals, Service Blueprint, personas and value proposition canvas. In addition to this, the role of the core services could be emphasized more including marketing and communications.
