Tiivistelmä
Abstract: This thesis aims to provide a comprehensive historical understanding, raise awareness of the current state, and offer perspective on the future of multilingual dynamics and processes of multilingual communication use in a Finnish educational community environment: TAMK Proakatemia.
Proakatemia is a unique educational program within Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) that focuses on team-based learning and entrepreneurship education. Proakatemia enables an innovative learning environment where students work collaboratively on real-world projects, often requiring multilingual communication due to the diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds of its participants.
This thesis explores the theory, research, policy, and practice surrounding multilingualism, emphasizing the importance of effective multilingual education policies. These policies should prepare ALL students to navigate the linguistic realities of both local community and global contexts.
Key takeaways:
Fostering a safe, inclusive environment for the use of multiple languages.
Plan the design of policies that promote balanced bilingualism and linguistic equity.
