Tiivistelmä
Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa Kuukanniemen vanhempainyhdistyksen jäsenten kokemuksia yhdistyksen toiminnasta. Opinnäytetyön tulosten avulla on tavoitteena saada Kuukanniemen vanhempainyhdistykselle tietoa jäsenten kokemuksista, jotta vanhempainyhdistyksen on mahdollista kehittää toimintaansa. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin vanhempainyhdistyksen jäsenille lähetetyllä Webropol-kyselyllä. Tutkimus on pääosin toteutettu kvantitatiivisena tutkimuksena, mutta kyselylomakkeen avoimet kysymykset on analysoitu kvalitatiivisin menetelmin. Strukturoidun kyselylomakkeen kysymyksillä haluttiin saada vastauksia tutkimuskysymyksiin, millaisena jäsenet pitävät vanhempainyhdistyksen nykyistä toimintaa sekä millaisia kehitysehdotuksia vanhemmat nostavat esille koskien yhdistyksen toimintaa.
Tutkimuksen johtopäätöksenä todetaan Kuukanniemen vanhempainyhdistyksen jäsenten yleisesti pitävän yhdistyksen toimintaa tärkeänä ja hyödyllisenä. Vastaajat arvioivat kokemuksiensa toiminnasta olevan pääosin positiivisia ja toivoivat toiminnalle jatkuvuutta. Aineiston perusteella yhdistystoiminnassa mukana toimiminen vaikutti vastaajien kokemuksiin yhteisöllisyydestä ja osallisuudesta, jotka oli määritelty työn keskeisiksi käsitteiksi. Yhdistyksen toiminta koettiin rennoksi ja mukavaksi, ja vastaajista suurin osa vastasi olevansa tyytyväisiä yhdistyksen toimintaan.
Kehitysehdotuksissa jäsenet toivat esille viestinnän lisäyksen rantasaunan käyttömahdollisuuden kehittämisen ja ehdotuksen vanhemmista koostuvasta valvojaryhmästä lasten vapaa-ajan vieton seurantaan kylällä. Osa vastaajista toivoi, että yhdistys järjestäisi enemmän toimintaa. Aineiston perusteella yhdistyksen toiminnan kehittäminen paremmin yhdistyksen tavoitteita vastaavaksi vaatisi näkyvyyden ja toiminnan lisäämistä, joka taas edellyttäisi sitä, että yhdistys saisi lisää aktiivisia toimijoita yhdistystoimintaan mukaan.
Jatkotutkimusehdotuksena samansuuntaisen kyselyn voisi toteuttaa vanhempainyhdistyksen yhteistyötahoille eli koulun ja päiväkotien henkilöstölle, sekä muokattuna Kuukanniemen alueella asuville vanhemmille, jotka eivät vielä ole yhdistyksen toiminnassa mukana. The objective of the thesis was to study the experiences that the members of the parents’ association of Kuukanniemi had about the association. This thesis aimed to produce information about the members’ experiences, so that the parents’ association of Kuukanniemi can improve their activities. The data was collected via a Webropol survey and the link to the questionnaire was sent to the recipients by e-mail. The research was mainly a quantitative study, but the open questions in the questionnaire were analyzed with qualitative methods. The aim of the structured questionnaire was to get answers to the research questions: How do the members consider the parents’ associations current activities and what kind of improvement suggestions do the parents bring up about the parents’ association’s current activities?
Based on the data collected, the members considered the parents’ association as important and useful. The respondents evaluated their experiences about the association mainly positive, and they hoped that the association’s operations continue. Based on the analyzed data, the members who were involved in the association’s activities experienced communality and participation, which were also the key terms of this thesis. The association’s activities were experienced as relaxed and pleasant, and most of the respondents answered that they are satisfied with the association’s activities.
Based on the data, the parents thought there were some improvement targets that the association could work on. These improvement targets were increasing information, improving the possibilities for members to use the beach-sauna, and a proposition to start a neighbor watch so that parents would know what their children are doing during their free time. Some of the respondents hoped that the association organized more activities. Based on the analyzed data, the improvements that would lead to the association’s activities to meet the association’s goals better would require increasing publicity and activities. Both these would require that the association should get more active members.
As an idea for further research, the same survey could be made for the school and early childhood education’s staff. Further study could also extend to the parents living in the Kuukanniemi area, but who are not yet members of the parents’ association.
