Tiivistelmä
This thesis was a study of ideas and concepts for gamifying time management for people with ADHD. Alongside the author’s personal experience with ADHD, the thesis uses literature on the topics of ADHD, time management, and game theory.
The aim of the thesis was to answer how time management applications could be improved for people with ADHD using tools of gamification. To answer this question, concepts and ideas were designed and reviewed.
This is an independent study made without external commissioner. The results of the study are aimed to be useful for designers of time management tools.
Reading has been done to further understand gamification and time management. Study into gamification also included review of three games related to time management.
Concepts and ideas have been explained and illustrated before these were included in a survey. This survey was run for 10 days, and it gathered 170 responses.
It was found that a tool for gamified time management for people with ADHD is something many would benefit from. This tool should be customizable, and it should put effort into creating good task limiting systems and proper task evaluation tools to help the user avoid filling their day too full. It should also aim to prevent burnout and be encouraging.
