Tiivistelmä
For everyone all over the world, the concept of sustainability in tourism activities is not new, but in Vi-etnam the tourism industry has appeared since more than two decades ago, but the concept of sustaina-bility in tourism is still limited. The exploitation and guarantee of the long-term sustainability of tourism resources need to be carefully considered. For the author, the tourism industry in Vietnam today needs to satisfy two factors: natural resources and human resources. Severe environmental degradation will occur when one of these two important factors is missing. A country's overall sustainable development must be ensured in a united and simultaneous manner in all three aspects: economy, culture - society, and environment. A solid understanding of the concept of sustainable tourism, as well as the assessment criteria and variables impacting the development of sustainable tourism, is essential for the tourism in-dustry's next steps. The author wishes that the research will be effective for readers to understand sus-tainability in general in the current Vietnamese tourism market. From implementing many activities to improve knowledge about sustainable development, how to have different products and protect the environment.
The author wants to convey to the reader by using the data collection method. Moreover, using a quanti-tative method to provide accurate data in the research by directly contacting representatives of busi-nesses. On the other hand, the method has many shortcomings because of subjective problems from the side of enterprises, which leads to difficulties in the research when comparing two business establish-ments, thereby comparing the domestic tourism industry and developing countries tourism in the region, and moreover internationally. It is also important to respect and develop the values of cultural heritage, history, national cultural identity, tradition and community special identity. The study shows the existing state of tourism operations and offers suggestions for sustainable tourism growth, demonstrating the potential for sustainable tourism development in Da Lat, Vietnam.
According to research, the level of sustainable tourism in Da Lat is still low. Although the potential of the natural landscape is available the investment of business establishments has not achieved the effective-ness of the local and the government. In Vietnam, there is only a limited understanding of sustainable tourism development and as a result, the government should improve public education about local towns to avoid overexploitation of the tourism business, which could lead to environmental degradation in the name of establishing tourist attractions.
