Globalization is no longer an unfamiliar concept, having experienced significant development in recent years. It has created a diverse environment with many different models. Diversity often brings about unexpected changes within organizations across various sectors. The workplace environment serves as an example of these effects. This study seeks to examine the impacts of diversity on individuals within the workplace, with a specific focus on the Vietnamese market. Vietnam is recognized as a developing country with many changes in its diversity. Vietnam is also a pertinent context for this analysis.
This study uses several key theories, including Social Identity Theory, Psychological Safety Theory and Equity Theory, and Organizational Support Theory, to explore how basic human needs can be met, a sense of fairness and belonging can be fostered, and intrinsic motivation can be promoted within organizations. To achieve the research objectives, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 4 department managers, and a quantitative study was performed through 41 online survey questionnaires related to this diversity.
The research findings indicate that factors such as equitable policies, psychological safety, and the recognition of diverse identities are crucial for fostering an environment in which all employees can thrive. By understanding and implementing appropriate management strategies to enhance diversity, the organization can maximize the benefits of a diverse workplace. Consequently, organizations will be better equipped to create a supportive and inclusive work environment, thereby optimizing the potential of their workforce.
