Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the role of sustainability in mitigating inflationary pressures in the computer hardware and services sector, focusing on a small business in Estonia. Through a case study approach, the research examines the commissioning company’s sustainability practices and their effectiveness in managing inflation, particularly within the EU context.
The study begins with a literature review on inflation, followed by an analysis of EU inflation trends from 2015 to 2024, highlighting the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine war. An industry-specific analysis addresses inflation-related challenges, such as semiconductor shortages and supply chain disruptions.
Using a mixed-methods approach, including a 23-question survey and an interview with the company, findings reveal that sustainability practices - such as energy efficiency and local sourcing - help reduce costs and enhance stability. The thesis also evaluates the relevance of international inflation management strategies to the company’s approach.
In conclusion, sustainability not only supports environmental goals but also offers a viable strategy for managing inflation in the computer hardware industry, fostering resilience and cost-effectiveness.
