Tiivistelmä
This thesis explores the market entry strategies of Indian firms expanding into Finland, a strategically significant market within Europe. It examines how companies leverage Finland’s unique advantages, including its advanced technology ecosystem, skilled workforce, sustainability initiatives, and integration within the European Union. The study focuses on key entry strategies such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic alliances, aligning these approaches with established international business frameworks, including Dunning’s Eclectic Paradigm and the Uppsala Internationalisation Model. These theories provide insights into ownership, location, and internalization advantages, as well as the incremental learning processes that influence market entry decisions. The findings reveal that Indian firms adapt their strategies to Finland’s regulatory and cultural environment, emphasizing sector-specific priorities such as rapid integration, resource sharing, and compliance with sustainability standards. Finland’s strategic location and EU membership position it as a gateway for further expansion into Europe, allowing Indian companies to scale operations efficiently. While the study highlights significant opportunities, it also identifies challenges such as financial risks and cultural differences, underscoring the importance of strategic planning and adaptability. By integrating theoretical frameworks with practical insights, the study provides a nuanced understanding of cross-border expansion strategies, offering valuable recommendations for Indian companies navigating international markets. This research contributes to the broader discourse on international business, showcasing the interplay between theory and practice in achieving sustainable growth in foreign markets.
