Tiivistelmä
This study examines the social well-being of seafarers on cargo and container vessels in Finland, highlighting the challenges of prolonged isolation, demanding work environments, and limited contact with loved ones. Utilizing a quantitative research approach, surveys conducted among maritime students with varied seafaring experiences revealed key factors affecting interpersonal relationships and preferred onboard activities, including sports, gaming, and celebrations. The findings underscore the importance of implementing effective social support systems to improve interactions and overall quality of life onboard, contributing valuable insights to maritime workforce research and strategies for enhancing seafarers' well-being in challenging environments.
