Tiivistelmä
This thesis examined how workplace well-being programs in the hospitality industry influenced employees’ well-being and job performance. The research problem focused on understanding how companies currently supported employee well-being, identified challenges, and provided suggestions for improvement. The study was limited to the restaurant service sector.
The study used a qualitative research method, using semi-structured interviews to gather data. Interviews with employees in different roles were conducted to explore their experiences. Thematic analysis was used to identify common themes, challenges, and suggestions for improvement.
The results show that well-being programs such as flexible schedules, healthcare benefits, and a supportive work environment, positively impact employee motivation, mental health, and work-life balance. High workload, inconsistent managerial support, and communication gaps are major challenges. The findings suggest that improving communication about available resources, adjusting programs to employee needs, and providing consistent management support can enhance the effectiveness of these programs.
The research concludes that effective well-being programs contribute to a supportive workplace, improving employee satisfaction, and increasing organizational success. The research provides organizations with useful suggestions for improving well-being programs and managing the challenges of the hospitality industry.
