Tiivistelmä
The construction and real estate industry is under increasing pressure to adapt to sustainable development goals and regulatory requirements aimed at reducing environmental impacts. The updated European Union directives have caused uncertainty among companies in the sector, while financiers and other stakeholders are demanding that construction and real estate operators take measures related to sustainable development in business responsibility, environmentally friendly new construction and improving the energy efficiency of existing properties.
The aim of this thesis was to examine the impact of current and future regulations and directives on the industry and to create a guide to meet green finance requirements. An interview study was used to analyze companies’ knowledge of responsibility, environmental certifications and green finance. By examining these interrelated topics, this thesis created a practical roadmap for real estate professionals to navigate the complexities of regulation and make informed, sustainable investment decisions. The study shows that awareness of regulatory obligations and green finance varies greatly depending on the size of the company. In particular small and medium sized enterprises need support and guidance to understand the whole picture. The financier's role as a guide for corporate clients enables them to meet green financing requirements and create a competitive advantage through environmentally friendly business operations.
