Geronomin työnkuvan kehittäminen kotihoitoon

Abstract

Opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin geronomin työnkuvan kehittämistä Kanta-Hämeen hyvinvointialueen kotihoitoon. Opinnäytetyö pohjautui ajatukseen geronomin osaamisen hyödyntämisestä kotihoidon monialaisella ja moniammatillisella työkentällä. Kanta-Hämeen hyvinvointialueella ei ole vielä geronomeja kotihoidossa. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää geronomille mahdollinen työnkuva osana moniammatillista ja monialaista työyhteisöä kotihoidon toimintaympäristössä. Opinnäytetyön tutkimuskysymykset olivat mitä ammatillista tukea geronomi voi tuoda kotihoidon moniammatilliseen työyhteisöön ja millainen olisi toimiva geronomin työnkuva kotihoidon toimintaympäristössä KantaHämeen hyvinvointialueella.

Opinnäytetyön teoreettinen viitekehys muodostuu geronomin kompetensseista, moniammatillisesta ja monialaisesta yhteistyöstä sekä kotihoidosta. Teoreettisessa viitekehyksessä on käytetty laajasti suomen- ja englanninkielisiä lähteitä sekä sosiaali- ja terveysalan tietokantoja.

Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena. Aineistonkeruumenetelmänä käytettiin ryhmähaastatteluita ja haastattelumuotona käytettiin teemahaastattelua. Ryhmähaastatteluja oli yhteensä kolme ja niissä haastateltiin Kanta-Hämeen hyvinvointialueen kotihoidon ja asiakasohjauksen henkilöstöä. Haastatteluihin osallistui yhteensä 13 henkilöä. Haastattelujen vastausten analysointiin käytettiin teemoittelua. Työn toimeksiantajana toimi Kanta-Hämeen hyvinvointialue ja opinnäytetyö on tehty tätä hyvinvointialuetta ajatellen.

Opinnäytetyön tutkimuksen tulokset osoittavat, että geronomin työnkuvalle Kanta-Hämeen hyvinvointialueen kotihoidossa on tarvetta. Työnkuvaan voisi sisältyä moniammatillisen ja monialaisen yhteistyön kehittäminen, asiakkaiden taloudellisten ja sosiaalisten tilanteiden arviointi ja ohjaaminen, yksinäisten sekä mielenterveys- ja päihdeasiakkaiden asioissa auttaminen ja omaisyhteistyön vahvistaminen. Geronomi voisi toimia osana arviointitiimiä ja olla tarvittaessa muiden tiimien käytettävissä.

Tätä opinnäytetyötä voidaan hyödyntää osana geronomin työnkuvan kehittämistä kotihoidon moniammatilliseen ja monialaiseen työyhteisöön sekä KantaHämeen hyvinvointialueella että muilla hyvinvointialueilla.

In this thesis we studied the job descriptions of elderly care professionals working in home care in Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County. The thesis was based on the idea of harnessing their know-how in home care’s multidisciplinary and multi-professional field of work. Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County does not have elderly care professionals working in home care yet. The goal of the thesis was to examine elderly care professionals’ possible job description as part of a multidisciplinary and multi-professional work community in the operational environment of home care. The research of this thesis provides answers to the questions what kind of professional support an elderly care professional can bring to home care’s multi-professional work community and what would a functional job description for them in the working environment of home care in Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County be. The theoretical framework of the thesis consists of the competences of an elderly care professional, multi-professional and multidisciplinary cooperation and home care. Finnish and English sources and various databases from the social and healthcare sector were used extensively in the theoretical framework. The research was conducted as a qualitative study. Data collection was done through group interviews which were formatted as theme interviews. There were three group interviews, in which practical nurses, nurses, managers, service directors and a gerontological social worker working in home care in Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County were interviewed. A total of thirteen people attended the interviews. The results of the interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis. This thesis was assigned by Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County, Oma Häme. The results of the research prove that a need exists for a job description for elderly care professionals working in home care in Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County. The job description could include the development of multiprofessional and multidisciplinary cooperation, evaluation of the economic and social situations of clients and their guidance, helping clients struggling with loneliness, mental health issues and substance abuse and strengthening family cooperation. An elderly care professional could work as part of an evaluation team while also being available to other teams as needed. This thesis can be used as part of developing the job description of elderly care professionals in the multi-professional and multidisciplinary work community of home care in both Kanta-Häme and other Wellbeing Services Counties.
